What? Keeping the Law?

Romans 8:2-3 and surrounding verses and even chapters give an excellent description of what we are set free from and how it has happened. “For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned the flesh…”

We are set free from the law of sin and death. The law given to Moses could not do this because we could not follow it perfectly.

The law of sin and death is like the law of gravity. These laws pull us down, whether or not we believe in these laws. This law must be canceled by a greater law, like lift in an airplane overcomes the gravitational pull toward the earth, and the law of the spirit of life sets us free in the same way from the law of sin and death by canceling the power of sin and enabling us to live in holiness, just as in the Scriptures we are called “saints” who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
